The Buffalo Bills have an important matchup in Week 14 when they host the rival New York Jets on Sunday. Unfortunately for the Bills, they'll be somewhat shorthanded as head coach Sean McDermott has already ruled out two players, according to NFL Network's Mike Giardi.

Buffalo Bills Injury News

McDermott announced that full back Reggie Gilliam and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips won't suit up against the Jets. Gilliam is currently dealing with an ankle injury, while Phillips suffered a shoulder injury during last week's win over the New England Patriots.

Neither player practiced this week, though, so their injury status isn't too surprising.

As far as Gilliam goes, his absence won't be noticed too much. The Bills don't often hand the ball to their starting FB, proven by his having just 15 touches (three carries, 12 catches) in 42 career games. Nevertheless, a lack of opportunities hasn't stopped him from recording a career-high 57 scrimmage yards (with a touchdown) on seven touches this season.

Though Phillips isn't a starter, he'll still be missed after playing 46% of defensive snaps thus far. The former Oklahoma product has stepped up when his team has needed him, recording 18 tackles, two broken-up passes and 1.5 sacks in 10 games (one start).

After the Bills lost 20-17 to the Jets back in Week 9, it's clear that the former needs all hands on deck this time around. Nevertheless, only time will tell if Gilliam and Phillips' absence plays a role in the outcome of the Week 14 AFC East showdown.

Even without their two veterans, the Bills are expected to win in a big way this weekend. FanDuel Sportsbook lists Buffalo as the 10-point spread favorite, along with having -480 moneyline odds to defeat the Jets (+370).
