The 2021 NFL Draft is just over a week away and the Buffalo Bills will soon be on the clock with the No. 30 overall pick. They are coming off of an AFC Championship game appearance after finishing 13-3 and are likely looking to add someone that can contribute from day one.

It's important that the Bills use this pick wisely. With that being said, here are three players the Bills should avoid with their first-round pick.

1. Jayson Oweh, DE, Penn State

Yes, Jayson Oweh is a flat-out freak athlete as he posted a 4.36 40-yard dash as a 6-foot-5, 257-pound defensive end. However, he doesn't fit the mold of someone that can step in right away. Oweh racked up only a total of 7.0 sacks over three seasons at Penn State and had zero in seven games played last season. The Bills need help along the defensive line, but they need to target a player that has a proven track record of production. Oweh is a developmental prospect that may take a few years to blossom at the next level.

2. Asante Samuel Jr., CB, Florida State

While Buffalo should be looking to upgrade its secondary in this draft, they would be wise to avoid using their first-round pick on Asante Samuel Jr. Samuel found himself covering the slot position often in college and the Bills would really benefit from drafting an outside cornerback. Plus, Buffalo has more pressing needs to address such as an edge rusher or running back depth. Samuel's lack of height may also become a factor in the NFL. The Bills should wait to take a CB until the later rounds.

3. Landon Dickerson, OL, Alabama

Buffalo has already made some offensive line free agent signing this offseason, but it wouldn't be surprising to see them draft one as well. Yet, they should avoid Alabama's Landon Dickerson in the first round. While he does have experience playing multiple positions, Dickerson's lengthy injury history is not something the Bills should want to take on. In fact, he suffered a season-ending injury in four of his five college seasons and may need time to adjust to an NFL level of play. The Bills need to build depth along the line, but Dickerson comes with too much risk to be a first-round pick.
