The New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills rivalry is going to look a lot different in the 2020 NFL season. Tom Brady is out of the picture, and the Bills are making a push to be considered favorites in the AFC East.

As usual, the teams will meet twice in 2020. First in a Week 8 Sunday afternoon game, and again on Monday Night Football in Week 16. FanDuel Sportsbook hasn't yet released odds for those games, but we're sure to see some interesting lines when they do.

The Patriots have, of course, dominated this rivalry in recent years. But those wins and losses don't tell us much about these upcoming matchups. A look at the history of the betting lines, however, might.

Bills vs Patriots History

Over the last decade, the Patriots and Bills have met 18 times. The Patriots are a beastly 15-3 straight up in those meetings. They're often heavy favorites, however, and have never once been an underdog in that time. In fact, they've been favored by at least 4 points in 18 of the 20 meetings.

Looking at their record against the spread (ATS), the Patriots still come out looking impressive, going 12-7-1 ATS. Even when favored by double-digit points, they have a 3-3 ATS record.

Expanding our view back further to the 2002 season, when the Houston Texans joined the NFL and divisions were re-aligned, the Patriots still come away looking great. They are 32-4 straight up against the Bills in that time, and their ATS record is maybe even more impressive, at 22-12-2. The whole reason for a point spread is to make things as close to 50-50 as possible, but the Patriots have beat the spread in 64.7 percent of those games.

Bills fans are already holding their breath hoping that Brady's departure means a turning of the tide in the division. But Bills' bettors are going to have to keep their fingers crossed hoping that it also means a drastic shift in the betting trends between these two sides.
