3 Bengals That Won't Be on the Roster at the Start of the 2022 Season

The 2021 NFL season is one that Cincinnati Bengals fans certainly won't forget, culminating in a Super Bowl appearance. Even though they came up short, the Bengals are hoping that the experience from that run plus their offseason changes can help get them back to football's biggest dance.
If the Bengals are going to return to the Super Bowl, they must trim off the roster fat once training camp rolls around. Cincinnati can only afford to field the best roster possible, meaning many players will have their hopes crushed before the 2022 campaign even begins.
Here are three Bengals players that won't be on the roster at the start of the 2022 NFL season.
Bengals Roster Rumors
1. Kevin Huber, P
Kevin Huber has been the Bengals' punter ever since the organization used a fifth-round pick on him in 2009. Although Cincinnati appreciates his loyalty, the 3,064 punt yards he racked up last season was his worst total since 2013, signaling that the 36-year-old's career could be winding down. Special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons has been open that Huber failed to meet expectations last season and that the team will be holding a punting competition at training camp. If Huber can't beat out his fellow competitors, his long-time tenure with the Bengals could be over.
2. Wyatt Hubert, EDGE
The Bengals used a seventh-round pick on EDGE Wyatt Hubert back in 2021, however, the former Kansas State product didn't play a single game due to a torn pectoral during the offseason. It's entirely possible that Hubert bounces back, but that road is more difficult after Cincinnati used a 2022 seventh-rounder on Coastal Carolina EDGE Jeffrey Gunter. Both young defenders will compete for a roster spot, but Hubert's injury from last season might put him at a disadvantage and result in him getting cut.
3. Thaddeus Moss, TE
When the Bengals claimed Thaddeus Moss off waivers last year, they were hoping that he could rekindle some chemistry with former LSU teammate Joe Burrow. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case, resulting in Moss spending most of his time on the practice squad. Furthermore, Moss was already behind Drew Sample on the TE depth chart, but his position lowered even more once the Bengals added Hayden Hurst this offseason. Unless Moss shows some serious improvement at training camp, he could end up being a roster cut for the second straight season.
