Cincinnati Bengals superstar quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a devastating knee injury that cut his rookie campaign short. Burrow underwent surgery on a torn ACL and torn MCL on Wednesday.

Thankfully for Bengals fans, the surgery apparently was a success, as he's expected to make a full recovery.

Burrow's knee injury has been compared to the one Carson Wentz suffered in 2017. Wentz eventually made a full recovery, but he did miss the first two games of the 2018 campaign. Though Burrow is expected to return to full strength eventually, there's still a chance he misses some time next season, just as Wentz did.

Burrow suffered his injury in Week 11, while Wentz went down in Week 14 of 2017, so that does give the LSU product a few extra weeks to recover.

Still, Bengals fans would surely prefer that the organization plays it safe with their franchise QB. Hopefully Burrow can get back to full strength for 2021.
