Chicago Bears fans may be feeling down on Thursday. They don't hold a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, meaning they'll likely be waiting until Friday to get in on the action.
Recent comments from Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet give Bears fans something to get excited about, though.
Kmet is widely regarded as the top tight end prospect in the 2020 draft class, and while his skyrocketing draft stock could end up seeing him go off the board on Thursday, NFL Draft odds on FanDuel Sportsbook still have his draft position over/under at pick 41.5.
The Chicago native would also be a great fit at a position of need for the Bears. They recently released Trey Burton, and acquiring Jimmy Graham in free agency doesn't exactly look like a long-term solution.
Rookie tight ends are notorious for getting off to a slow start, often needing a year or so to develop. Having Graham as a stop-gap option while Kmet works his way into the fold could be a great long-term answer for the Bears' tight end spot.
