Each and every year, college football holds a postseason All-Star game featuring the best talent from the sport, which is dubbed the Senior Bowl. The top players from around the nation play in the Senior Bowl in front of NFL coaches in order to help get recognized for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Another tradition of the Senior Bowl is the opportunity for several NFL coaches to run the Senior Bowl squads and get a closer look at the incoming pro football talent.

One Chicago Bears coach has been named to a special role at the 2023 Senior Bowl.

Luke Getsy Senior Bowl

Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy will operate as the head coach of the American team at this year's festivities.

One wrinkle to the 2023 edition of this event is the use of multiple coaching staffs. Instead of one team's staff working the event, several NFL assistants were called to lead the contestants.

Getsy joined the Bears in 2022 and began to unlock the true talents of quarterback Justin Fields. After a dismal rookie season, Fields put the pieces together in 2022. Not only did he pass for 2,242 yards and 17 touchdowns, but he also gained an impressive 1,143 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground.

The Senior Bowl will take place on Feb. 4 -- the week before Super Bowl 57 -- at the University of South Alabama's Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, AL.
