Avoid Anyone on the Jaguars Not Named Leonard Fournette in 2019 Fantasy Football

There's a lot of optimism surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars' offense now that quarterback Nick Foles is running the show. However, there's not much to write home about from a fantasy football perspective. So far, anyway.

On the outset, many are high on Jacksonville pass catchers with offensive coordinator John DeFilippo calling plays, as he tends to be a bit pass-happy with his play-calling. However, the Jags' receiving corps features the likes of Marquise Lee, Chris Conley, Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook.

Outside of the last player mentioned, who's been the talk of Jaguars camp in the early going, the receiving corps may not have enough talent to take advantage of the fantasy-friendly situation it's in. Shifting focus to the backfield, however, is a completely different story.

After an excellent rookie campaign that saw him eclipse 1,000 yards rushing, Leonard Fournette was a fantasy bust in 2018. The third-year tailback frustrated his owners due to a prolonged injury absence and one-game suspension that forced him to miss eight total contests.

Fournette finished his sophomore season with just 439 yards rushing and five touchdowns to his name, all while averaging an abysmal 3.3 yards per carry. His regression last year has caused his ADP to slide significantly and sits ranked as the RB16 heading into 2019. Despite that, there is hope that Fournette can turn things around in 2019.

DeFilippo has raved about Fournette since OTAs and fully expects the LSU product to be the focal point of the Jacksonville offense in 2019. It's also worth noting that DeFilippo's clear preference for the pass could see Fournette's PPR value increase.

Fournette still has a lot to prove to himself, the Jaguars and, most importantly, his fantasy owners going forward. Although, if he happens to take well to Jacksonville's offense and put on a strong showing during the preseason, expect him to slowly rise up the RB rankings as the summer rolls along.
