Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Auden Tate was carted off the field following a scary hit to the head in Week 11 against the Oakland Raiders, and he will likely miss some time because of it. His absence raises the fantasy value for Alex Erickson.
Before leaving with the injury, Tate caught four of his six targets for 56 yards, which led Cincinnati on the day. Erickson caught just one of his five targets on the day, but he should see a bump in volume with Tate out of the way.
While mostly a return specialist in his Bengals career, Erickson has put together some terrific offensive games this season. He has a three-game stretch where he totaled 18 catches on 27 targets, taking them for 281 yards.
Since that stretch, with Ryan Finley taking over at QB, Erickson has zero receiving yards on seven targets across two games. But with Tate's 7.3 targets per game freed up, Erickson has the potential to absorb some of these looks and return to fantasy relevance as the No. 2 WR in Cincinnati, behind Tyler Boyd.
Erickson's fantasy value also hinges on star wide receiver A.J. Green remaining out, but following a setback when he attempted to return recently, there is no specific timetable for Green to get back on the field.
This makes Erickson a top waiver wire pickup heading into Week 12, with a matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on tap.
