Athletics Get Good News With Latest Lou Trivino Injury Update

After a promising 7-5 start to the 2022 MLB season, the Oakland Athletics have gone 3-8 in their last 11 games. The A's have been without their closer Lou Trivino for the entirety of their slump after the righty was placed on the injured list with COVID-19 on April 18.
Athletics fans will be relieved to hear that Trivino is back on his way to the bullpen. MLB.com is reporting that Oakland is likely to activate the 30-year-old from the IL on Tuesday.

Lou Trivino Injury Update
Although fans are excited to see Trivino again, expectations should be tempered. He gave up a total of five runs over one inning in his lone rehab appearance with Low-A Stockton, so he may need time before he's feeling himself again.
Trivino has also had his ups and downs in four appearances with the A's this season. He has a 4.91 ERA in 3.2 innings pitched and, while it's a small sample, a career-high 9.8 hits per nine IP. He's made a pair of saves in his quartet of showings, but already has a blown save as well.
Nevertheless, being back in an MLB bullpen might do wonders for Trivino after the last two or so weeks. If he can find his footing early on, he'll play a big role in helping the A's turn their season around.
It's going to take a lot more than just Trivino's efforts to will Oakland into the playoffs, though. FanDuel Sportsbook is favoring the A's to miss the 2022 MLB postseason at +2000 odds.
