Anton Harrison Scouting Report
Harrison arrived at Oklahoma as a four-star recruit and saw early playing time as a true freshman in 2020 (1 sack allowed in 333 snaps). He jumped into a starting role as a sophomore when he started 12 of the team's 13 games at left tackle. The Washington, D.C. native allowed 2 sacks and 1 QB hit.
It all came together for Harrison this past fall, though. He played a career-high 862 snaps and allowed just 1 sack, 0 QB hits and 8 QB hurries. He shut down one opposing pass rusher after another in what was a conference loaded with elite talent. Harrison earned a first-team All-Big 12 nod for his efforts.
Highlighted strengths of Harrison's game are centered around his ability to adapt. He has the size of an NFL lineman (6-foot-4 and 315 pounds), but also the athleticism to redirect and keep his balance. Harrison rarely got overextended or top-heavy in his protection during passing plays at Oklahoma.
Harrison is far from perfect, though, as building on his physical strength is a must if he wants to be able to defend elite pass rushers in the NFL. Fixing erratic hand movements would benefit him as well. These are things that can be improved on rather easily, making Harrison an intriguing prospect.
Anton Harrison NFL Draft Prediction
While selecting an offensive lineman in the first round may not be a move that excites the fan base, NFL teams know that reliable protection up front is crucial for any offense to work. Harrison has the fundamentals of a player that can see action right away and quickly improve on his weaknesses, too.
That kind of player fits the mold of a Jacksonville Jaguar. Head coach Doug Pederson took his team from the bottom of the AFC South to a playoff spot in just one year, which goes to show that this staff knows how to get the best out of the guys on the field. Harrison would have a clear support system.
The Jaguars have a need at offensive tackle thanks to the departure of Jawaan Taylor in free agency. Walker Little is far from a guaranteed starter right now and giving him some competition in Harrison could work out for the better. Taking him at No. 24 overall wouldn't be considered a reach, either.
Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars (Round 1, 24th overall)
