As the MLB season winds down, the Los Angeles Angels are approaching a final decision on Mike Trout's injury rehab. With just one month to go, Los Angeles appears closer and closer to shutting down their superstar center fielder for the remainder of the campaign.
On Monday night, manager Joe Maddon came close to confirming those fears. Maddon said the team "is getting closer" to making a decision around his potential shutdown, providing a timeline of two weeks to make the final call.
Mike Trout Injury Update
Trout's injury has been one of the biggest disappointments of the MLB season. With the emergence of Shohei Ohtani as a bonafide superstar, and MVP frontrunner, the league has been waiting for these two superstars to be clicking on all cylinders at the same time. Since Ohtani's arrival in 2018, this has been something the baseball world has been robbed of.
Maddon and his staff will undoubtedly look toward the future in regards to Trout's situation. This team sits 13.5-games back in the AL West standings and 9.5-games back in the Wild Card race. Trout has been held to just 36 games played thanks to a lingering calf injury.
Currently, Ohtani owns runaway -3500 odds to win AL MVP on FanDuel Sportsbook.
