It's been quite the week for the Miami Dolphins and tight end Adam Shaheen. Miami announced a trade of Shaheen to the Houston Texans on Aug. 9, but the deal was called off on Aug. 11 after he failed his physical, sending him back to the Dolphins.
Now the Shaheen saga has taken a new turn.
Miami placed the TE on season-ending injury reserve Tuesday. It was a knee issue that originally haulted his move to Houston, and it now appears that problem is serious enough to sideline him for the 2022 campaign.
This is a disappointing turn of events for the Dolphins, who were slated to receive a 2022 sixth-round pick from the Texans for Shaheen and a 2023 seventh-rounder. Now any hopes of trading him have been dashed with his latest injury news.
If it wasn't clear already, Shaheen appears on his way out of Miami. He's in the final year a two-year deal with the Dolphins. He's recorded a combined 24 receptions and 260 yards across 28 games played with the team.
