Adam Schefter Weighs in on 49ers-Kirk Cousins Trade Rumor

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to make a move for a new starting quarterback in 2021 following another injury-filled season for Jimmy Garoppolo. One potential option that's been rumored after Matthew Stafford came off the market is Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter has weighed in on those Cousins-49ers trade rumors with some intriguing insight.
Nothing to it.

Adam Schefter says the Kirk Cousins-49ers rumors aren't something that's actually being discussed right nowhttps://t.co/miHV1lGotn pic.twitter.com/Jhz8HKJcWs
It's not just that the 49ers aren't talking with Minnesota. Cousins is, in Schefter's opinion, not on the trade market right now, meaning zero conversations with any team are taking place at the moment.
"There are no absolutes in the league, anything is possible, but I have not heard anything about Kirk Cousins being available this offseason. We'll see if anything changes."
- Adam Schefter
San Francisco's reported interest in Cousins was conditional on him becoming available. Schefter's information, which as sound as it comes from around the league, seems to indicate he's not a trade target at the moment, which would squash any potential deal.
The 49ers already missed out on Stafford, and now they could be shut out of another option.
There's no telling if the team will want Derek Carr, or if they can acquire Deshaun Watson, meaning a Jimmy G reunion could be on the table for 2021, especially with his teammates backing him up.
