Despite kicking Week 10 off with another pair of drops on the opening drive, Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Christian Watson didn't let that stop him. Watson ended the day with a 4-catch, 107-yard and 3-TD performance, and effectively washed away the chatter about his disappointing rookie campaign.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked to Watson a team-leading 8 times during Sunday's OT win over the Dallas Cowboys. After the game, he revealed why.
Rodgers had a special message to his rookie wideout following the opening drive.
Packers insider Matt Schneidman revealed Rodgers told Watson, "The ball is still coming your way, buddy. Let's get one of these. Let's make a play."
It's unclear if Watson needed this sort of motivational message, but it seemingly worked. Week 10 was, by far, the rookie's best performance of his young career and a promising sign of things to come. Especially considering Green Bay pulled a valuable second-round draft pick on the playmaker this past offseason.
Sunday's win was also crucial for the Packers' playoff hopes. The Minnesota Vikings moved to 8-1 with their upset victory over the Buffalo Bills, but the Packers still hold +300 odds to make the playoffs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
