When Patrick Mahomes threw a no-look pass a couple years ago, it quickly lead to viral fame, and furthering the narrative of just how insanely good Patrick Mahomes is. And while Patrick Mahomes is indeed the best quarterback in the NFL and insanely good, he was not the first person to throw a no-look pass, far from it.
In Aaron Rodgers' latest appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, he talked about this a little bit. When discussing a no-look pass he made in Week 11 against the Colts (that didn't get any media coverage), Rodgers seemed to be throwing a light-hearted jab at Mahomes after McAfee sarcastically thanked the Chiefs quarterback for introducing it to the NFL.
Rodgers answered with "Since none of us have been doing it for a long time." Which means he wasn't only talking about himself. He followed that up by giving credit to Matthew Stafford, who he applauded for doing incredible things with the football his entire career.
Rodgers is absolutely right. Stafford has always been a guy who has been under-appreciated, despite putting up big numbers and doing incredibly impressive and innovative things with the football for his entire career.
He does point out the lack of winning and the market in Detroit for probable reasoning, but that didn't stop Aaron from praising everything the former Georgia QB can do. From no-look passes to varying arm angles, Stafford has an impressive arsenal. Game always recognizes game.
