A.J. Dillon Fantasy Outlook Muddled as RB3 on Packers Depth Chart

Any fantasy football managers who were expecting A.J. Dillon to be a potential sleeper in the Green Bay Packers backfield are likely going to be disappointed by the early-season returns.
Dillon has been officially listed as the RB3 on the depth chart, behind Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams.

Jones and Williams have formed a solid one-two punch in Green Bay, so under normal circumstances it wouldn't be at all surprising for the rookie to be listed as the RB3. The Packers spent a second-round pick on Dillon, however, which earned him some fantasy football buzz.
Ultimately, his path to fantasy relevance as a rookie is a tough one. Jones established himself as the Packers' clear lead back in 2019, and Williams quietly played well with a big role also. Williams played only 5.9 fewer snaps per game than Jones when both were healthy, and Williams' receiving work keeps him in the mix.

If anything, Dillon looks like a long-term play as a potential replacement for Jones, whose contract is up at the end of the season. As a rookie, don't expect Dillon to get much run.
If you took a flyer on Dillon in your fantasy football draft, you can feel okay about dropping him for a player that might have some more early-season upside. Dillon is little more than a handcuff right now, and even then he's not one of the league's top handcuffs.
