Eli Manning's status for the 2019 season is very much up in the air at the moment. Yet, if the Giants decide to bring him back for the final year of his contract, he'll be in line for a career windfall that no player in league history has ever seen.

Highest Paid Players in NFL History

Manning is expected to earn $23.2 million in 2019 as things currently stand. If he plays out all of next season, the 15-year veteran will finish the year with $258.5 million in career earnings, surpassing his brother Peyton for the highest mark in NFL history.

Peyton made $248.7 million in his career. Eli currently has made $235.3 million. Drew Brees is behind him with $221.7 million in career earnings and Tom Brady is fourth with $217.2 million.

Eli Manning has been under constant scrutiny over the past couple of seasons thanks to his poor play and it's hotly debated whether he's worth his paygrade. However, his performance in the second half of the season could be a sign he still has enough left in the tank for one more season.

Whether he takes the Giants back to the playoffs or has another disappointing year, at least he'll finally have something on Peyton when it's all said and done. That is if he plays next season under his current contract.
