Everything looked like it was finally clicking for Victor Oladipo and the Indiana Pacers. In previous years he was a solid contributor for the Orlando Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder, but Oladipo turned the corner since his arrival in Indianapolis, eventually becoming a borderline MVP candidate for the Pacers this season.

Indy's roster had finally gelled, getting the Pacers all the way to the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, just 2.5 games back of the Toronto Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks. The future was bright and the Pacers were starting to get some potential sleeper vibes as a team that could possibly win a couple of playoff series.

Just when everything was going right, this happened.

Oladipo is out for the season with a ruptured quad tendon. Suddenly, the Pacers' 2018-2019 campaign is spiraling downward.

Indy somehow managed to beat Toronto on Wednesday night, even after they watched their franchise player get wheeled off the court. Even with that flicker of hope, the odds are not confident that the Pacers can continue their success.

That is a monumental jump from just one injury, but it goes to show how important Oladipo is to this team. An All-Star guard and All-Defensive first-team player, he was the cornerstone of the franchise. With Oladipo out for the season, the Pacers need big performances from Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis, among others, if they're going to keep the ship afloat.

Either way, this injury is simply devastating. Especially, given how incredible Oladipo has been at closing out games for Indiana this season.

Seriously, there's a reason why the odds jumped to +15000 after he went down.

We'll just have to wait and see if Indy can maintain a playoff spot with half the regular season left to play. They certainly have the talent to do so, it's just going to be more difficult without their leader on the court.

The Pacers surely believe they still have a shot in the East, the odds just don't necessarily agree.
