The Jacksonville Jaguars have finally pulled the plug on Blake Bortles, a day after losing to the Buffalo Bills 24-21. It was also the seventh consecutive loss for the Jags and their eighth in nine games. Bortles himself is now 7-28 in 35 career starts on the road.

Former USC standout quarterback Cody Kessler gets the nod
In his NFL career, Kessler's stats are 1,662 yards passing with 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
I remember in the offseason questioning how Blake Bortles could accept a contract with only $6.5M of additional guaranteed money over two new years. Now benched, it actually looks like he did a good deal. #perception

The move creates even more chaos to the whole Bortles' saga in Jacksonville. Bortles' contract includes $26.5 million in guarantees as part of the three-year, $54 million contract he signed last offseason. The Jaguars knew the risk going into this deal, so there's really no one to blame but themselves.
Perhaps the Jags could've held off on the benching for one more week. After all, Bortles has thrown for 14 touchdowns and three interceptions in nine career games against the Colts.

Now, all of that production could be in the hands of Kessler, making him an interesting streaming option at quarterback this week.
