Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James had plenty of motivation coming back to Miami, where he played for four seasons and won two NBA titles. However, teammate Lance Stephenson provided an extra nudge to get the greatest player of all time into a special category on Sunday night.

The Lakers defeated the Miami Heat, 113-97, but it was LeBron's 51-point effort getting all of the attention. Stephenson, who is usually an opposing pest to LeBron, challenged him to exceed the 50-point barrier late in Sunday's game.

"I bet you won't go for the 3," Stephenson said.

LeBron capped off the heroic feat by hitting a 3-pointer in the closing seconds and pointing at Stephenson afterward. That 3 pointer put him over 50.

This was the 13th time in LeBron's career that he hit 50 points. It was his first with the Lakers and his first time since Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors. On Wednesday night he nearly hit the mark by scoring 44 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

It'll certainly be a fun season watching LeBron and Stephenson wearing the same uniform. Typically, these two take their head-to-head matchups very seriously, but watching them work together is must-see TV.
