A pair of tight ends, Evan Engram of the New York Giants and Greg Olsen of the Carolina Panthers, have been ruled inactive for the Week 5 matchup.
Engram missed been week-to-week nursing an MCL injury. Backup tight end Rhett Ellison has filled in admirably with three catches in each of the last two games.
#NFL @Panthers inactives today against the Giants 34 Artis-Payne, 35 Elder, 52 Norris, 63 Mahon, 88 Olsen, 91 Cox and 98 Haynes.— Steven Buckner (@CarSprtsRpter) October 7, 2018
@Giants Inactives: 17 Leuletta, 29 Moore, 33 Jordan, 54 Vernon, 67 Brown, 88 Engram, 91 Jenkins.
Olsen has been out of the lineup since the opener, but he is trending towards making his way back. The Week 4 bye certainly helped recovery time, and the 2-1 Panthers still look to be in a good spot for the NFC South race.
In Olsen's absence, running back Christian McCaffrey leads the Panthers with 22 catches on 26 targets while wide receiver Devin Funchess's 185 receiving yards is leading the team in that area.
