Every year, NFL contracts grow a little bit bigger, with $100 million seemingly being the new benchmark for a top-tier contracts. Nobody in the NFL had ever signed a contract worth more than $100 million prior to 2001, when Brett Favre and Drew Bledsoe both did so. Then, from 2001-2013, there were only 14 $100 million contracts signed overall.

Now in 2019, there are currently 15 $100 million contracts in the NFL, and they all belong to either quarterbacks or pass rushers. Just this past offseason, Russell Wilson, DeMarcus Lawrence and Frank Clark all signed huge deals. The number of $100 million deals will only continue to grow, which means there is a crop of quality players that are about to get paid a lot of money.

Here are five players who are poised to get a $100 million contract in the next couple of years.

1. Jadeveon Clowney, OLB, Houston Texans

Outside of quarterback, the "position" in football being paid the most right now is the pass rusher, and Jadeveon Clowney is one of the league's best. He's put up 18.5 sacks over the past two years and with Khalil Mack's $141 million deal setting the market for top outside linebacker talent, Clowney should come in comfortably above $100 million whenever Houston decides to sign him.

2. Myles Garrett, DE, Cleveland Browns

Myles Garrett will be a free agent in 2021, but he's already making waves across the NFL. Garrett recorded 13.5 sacks in his second year with the Browns and appears to be on track for a great career. If he continues his production over the next two years with a up-and-coming Browns team, he'll easily become a $100 million defensive end.

3. Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia

Wentz has two seasons until he's a free agent and if he can use that time to return to his 2017 pre-injury MVP form then he'll be seeing a big pay day in the future. Quarterback is obviously the most important position in the NFL and they're certainly paid like it. It's easy to forget that both Matthew Stafford and Derek Carr are $100 million quarterbacks. As long as Wentz stays healthy, he should be one of the next quarterbacks to join the $100 million club.

4. Joey Bosa, DE, Los Angeles Chargers

Joey Bosa is yet another high end pass rushing talent on track to get paid very soon. Bosa had 22.5 sacks in his first two years with the Chargers before struggling with injuries in 2018. As long as 2019 is a return to form, then Bosa will join JJ Watt, DeMarcus Lawrence and Frank Clark as one of the NFL's highest-paid defensive ends.

5. Jared Goff, QB, Los Angeles Rams

The going rate for a quarterback is high, but for a Super Bowl quarterback it's even higher. Obviously if the Rams had won the Super Bowl this year Goff would be getting a lot more hype, but he did still play fantastic in 2018 and lead his team to an NFC Championship. As long as Sean McVay is the head coach of the Rams, then Goff should be an integral part of that offense. If the Rams are willing to pay Aaron Donald $135 million, then you can expect them to shell out some cash for their starting quarterback.
