5 Highest Paid Vikings Heading into the 2020 NFL Season
By michael obermuller

This offseason, the Minnesota Vikings elected to part ways with a ton of veteran talent on the defensive side of the ball via free agency to create some more cap space. Multiple players walked or were cut, including Xavier Rhodes, Linval Joseph, Trae Waynes, and possibly even Everson Griffen, who remains unsigned. Star wide receiver Stefon Diggs was also traded, freeing up more budgetary room.
General manager Rick Spielman's plan has been clear, get younger through the NFL Draft. He acquired a boatload of picks for Diggs, and used many of them wisely, grading out as one of the league's bests drafts in 2020. Spielman still has a few larger cap hits to account for, however, and here are Minnesota's top five this season.
