After a relatively quiet start to the 2021 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers are firing on all cylinders now. They're winners in four of their last five games and their 7-6 record has them in the NFC playoff hunt. Now, ESPN is starting to take notice of San Francisco's success.
After clocking in at the No. 14 spot last week, the 49ers have surged to No. 11 in the ESPN's latest NFL Power Rankings ahead of Week 15.
49ers Power Rankings
The NFC West is one of the toughest divisions, so it isn't a surprise that the 49ers trail the Arizona Cardinals (No. 2) and Los Angeles Rams (No. 8) in the rankings. Still, a near-top-10 ranking is nothing to complain about.
San Francisco has been getting it done on both sides of the football over their recent streak. When it comes to each team's last five games play, the 49ers rank tied for fifth in points per game (28.8) and 10th for points allowed (19.8).
There's also a good chance that the 49ers can continue to surge up the rankings. Two of their final four games are against the lowly Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons. If San Francisco can win those two games and at least one against either the Rams or Tennessee Titans, fans have to like their team's chances of making the playoffs.
