The MLB Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching, and there are plenty of World Series contenders that could be buyers this season. Some teams have already made key moves, but there are several deals still to be had as we are nearly a month away from the July 31 deadline.

With that in mind, here are four contenders that could make a splash at the MLB Trade Deadline.

4. Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers are currently in a tight race for the NL Central crown, as they are a game behind the Chicago Cubs in the standings. The biggest need for the Brew Crew is clearly starting pitching, which has only been exacerbated by Jimmy Nelson's poor showing after returning from the IL. There should be a number of high-profile starters on the market, and the Brewers are currently rumored to be pursuing Detroit Tigers' pitcher Matthew Boyd. While he's hit a rough spot in June, Boyd could still be a great addition to the Brewers' rotation.

3. Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies were dealt a tough blow on June 3, when Andrew McCutchen went down with a torn ACL. McCutchen was a reliable hitter and a versatile fielder during his time in Philadelphia. While the Phillies have other needs, replacing McCutchen should be a priority.
Someone like Arizona Diamondbacks' outfielder Adam Jones could make a ton of sense, as he's a great fielder and has some pop to boot.

2. Houston Astros

It's hard to think that a team with Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole has a need at starting pitcher, but another arm could put the Houston Astros over the top. Outside of Verlander and Cole, their rotation isn't all that great. The Astros could be in the running for an elite starter to plug into their rotation, and Houston has a ton of prospects that could help facilitate a deal. Big-name pitchers like Madison Bumgarner and Max Scherzer could be great additions in Houston.

1. New York Yankees

Despite dealing with injury issues, the New York Yankees have a potent offense, but they could use an upgrade in their starting rotation. With the uncertainty surrounding Luis Severino, New York could look to acquire another ace via trade. The Yankees could include Clint Frazier in a prospect package to try and fetch Scherzer, or another big-name starter. Adding a legitimate ace could help this Yankees' team make a run at a World Series title.
