3 Rays Prospects Who Should Be in the Bigs This Year

The Tampa Bay Rays are the current gold standard of MLB farm systems. They have always had an eye for potential in general, which we have already seen with young stars like Brandon Lowe, Austin Meadows (acquired from Pittsburgh Pirates), Brendan McKay (pitcher/hitter dual talent), Tyler Glasnow (also snagged from Pirates), Yandy Diaz (acquired from Cleveland Indians), and more making an impact in Tampa.
Well, as we head into 2020, Tampa's minor league rosters are stacked with even more promise. These three prospects could bolster the big league club as soon as 2020.
1. Vidal Brujan, IF
A middle-infielder that would likely land at second-base for the Rays, Brujan has displayed a mix of top-notch ability as a contact hitter and disciplined batter at the plate. He also has received high speed grades with 103 stolen bases over the course of his last two minor league seasons. Currently ranked third in the Rays system on MLB Pipeline, Brujan could make his debut as soon as this season.
2. Brent Honeywell, P
If it wasn't for a checkered recent injury history, Honeywell would of likely made the Rays rotation in 2019. The right-handed starter has over-performed at every level since being drafted 72nd overall in 2014, and has a depth to his craft with five pitches at his disposal. It may have taken longer than he and the Rays initially hoped, but 2020 could finally be Honeywell's time to shine.
3. Randy Arozarena, OF
Coming over from the St. Louis Cardinals as part of the Jose Martinez deal, Arozarena is a ready-now outfielder. He has batted for a steady average during his tenure in the minors, at .292 for in his three years, and an even .300 in 20 major league games for the Cards. The Rays have higher ranked prospects projected to debut in 2021 and beyond, but Arozarena should factor this season.
