3 Players the New York Mets Could Move Prior to the MLB Trade Deadline
By Leo Abbe-Schneider

The 2019 MLB season has been a forgettable one for the New York Mets. Outside of Pete Alonso's Home Run Derby win last night, the Mets are middling in mediocrity during the All-Star break. They have a 40-50 record and are 13.5 games out of first place in the National League East.
With the Mets looking like sellers as we approach the July 31 MLB Trade Deadline, it would likely behoove the organization to move a big name or two to a contender in exchange for assets that could help them build toward a better future.
With that in mind, here are three players the Mets are most likely to move prior to the MLB trade deadline.
3. Zack Wheeler, Starting Pitcher
Zack Wheeler has proven to be a middle-of-the-rotation guy for the Mets during his five-year MLB career. He's 39-36 with a 3.88 ERA since making his debut in 2013 and with multiple contenders in need of pitching help, it would make sense for the Mets to trade Wheeler while they can still get good value for him. It's likely that the Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees come calling for some rotation help.
2. Wilson Ramos, Catcher
Wilson Ramos is having a solid season as the Mets' primary option behind the plate. His .272 average and .349 on-base percentage both rank third among MLB catchers. He also ranks sixth in RBI for catchers with 41. However, his defense leaves much to be desired. The Mets could look to move Ramos as any assets they could get in return would likely be more helpful for them in the long term.
1. Todd Frazier, Third Base
With the Mets seemingly out of playoff contention, Todd Frazier's time with the team could be coming to a close. Even though he's only hitting .254 with 11 home runs this season, Frazier still has the type of bat-defense combo that many contenders are looking to add this time of year. He's a reliable power hitter who can be used to pinch-hit, plus he can play multiple infield positions well. Expect Frazier to be calling another team home come July 31.
