The San Francisco 49ers rocked the NFL world, trading up from No. 12 to the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on Friday. Obviously, the move wasn't cheap. San Francisco is sending the No. 12 pick along with two future first-round picks and a 2022 third-round pick to the Miami Dolphins.

Considering the haul general manager John Lynch gave up, it seems like a near certainty that he uses the No. 3 pick on a quarterback. So with that in mind, here's who San Francisco is likely targeting at No. 3 in the 2021 NFL Draft.

49ers-Dolphins Trade

3. Zach Wilson, BYU Cougars

In terms of pure fit, Zach Wilson might be the most seamless one in Kyle Shanahan's offense. But regardless of how much San Francisco likes the BYU product, it certainly looks as if he's cemented his status as the No. 2 overall pick. It's not insane to think Wilson could fall, but it doesn't feel particularly likely at this point.

2. Trey Lance, North Dakota State Bison

Trey Lance is the kind of prospect a team can fall in love with. He's a fantastic athlete with a cannon for an arm who has drawn plenty of favorable comparisons to Buffalo Bills' QB Josh Allen. Lance has all the talent in the world, and he's the rare prospect who could justify a team mortgaging its future like San Francisco just did. Still, he's a bit raw and that could give some teams reason for pause.

1. Justin Fields, Ohio State Buckeyes

Picking Justin Fields at No. 3 feels like the most likely outcome of this trade. Outside of Trevor Lawrence, Fields is clearly the most accomplished passer in this class. He was also viewed as the clear-cut No. 2 QB before Wilson began to shoot up draft boards. He's got everything you could want in a QB. Great leadership ability, a powerful, accurate arm and some underrated athleticism. In fact, Fields just put that on display by running a 4.41 40-yard dash. That's absolutely ridiculous for a quarterback, especially a 6-foot-3, 220-pound quarterback. This guy can do it all, and he'd raise the ceiling of this team in a way that Garoppolo just can't.
