The Jacksonville Jaguars remain in rebuilding mode heading into the offseason. The good news is that the team has no shortage of assets and could turn things around rather quickly. Jacksonville has the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and a ton of cap space to draw in free agents with.

In fact, the Jaguars are projected to have over $56 million available, which gives GM Trent Baalke a lot of room to work with. His top priority should be surrounding young quarterback Trevor Lawrence with talented playmakers and reliable blockers. That would benefit his development in a massive way.

Here's a look at three free agents the Jaguars need to target to build around their young QB.

Jaguars Free Agent Targets

1. Mike Williams, WR

The Jaguars are going to be linked to a number of free agent wide receivers this offseason and for good reason. Veteran Marvin Jones was the only pass-catcher on the roster to post more than 620 yards this past season. Laviska Shenault seems to have the slot position locked down and that makes Mike Williams the perfect player to have lining up on the outside. The five-year pro has logged at least 1,000 receiving yards in two of the last three seasons and is known as one of the best deep threats in football. Williams averages 16.1 yards per reception in his career and can also be a major mismatch for defenders in the end zone. This would be a home run signing.

2. Dalton Schultz, TE

While Dan Arnold came on strong during the second half of the season, the Jaguars haven't had a reliable pass-catching tight end in years. They have focused on rostering solid blockers, instead. Adding another offensive weapon for Lawrence is never a bad idea and Dalton Schultz is one of the best ones available. The former Dallas Cowboy has come alive over the last two seasons, posting 1,423 yards and 12 touchdowns. His crisp route-running skills allow him to regularly find the open gaps over the middle of the field. The Jaguars have the money to outbid every other NFL team and could lock down the TE position in the process.

3. Brandon Scherff, OL

The Jaguars offensive line acted as a bright spot on this team in 2021, tying for the ninth-fewest sacks allowed on the year (32.0). Starters Andrew Norwell and A.J. Cann are not under contract for 2022, though, and may leave in free agency. Strengthening the o-line by signing Brandon Scherff would only help Lawrence stay upright and healthy in the pocket. Scherff is a five-time Pro Bowler and didn't give up a single sack in 2021 (697 snaps). Going all-in to secure the guard position for years to come would be one way the Jaguars can show their QB how committed they are to improving.
