The Dallas Cowboys found their way in many headlines this offseason, extending the contracts of some, but only offering a franchise tag to Dak Prescott. The team even made a much-needed switch at head coach, hoping this is the season that Dallas is able to go on a run.

However, a lot of things need to go right for the Cowboys to do it. They may need to make a few more rosters moves as well, but luckily Jerry Jones is never afraid to make some tough decisions. These are three veterans the Cowboys could cut in training camp.

1. Trysten Hill, DT

The Cowboys drafted Trysten Hill in the second round last season, but Dallas may already give up on the defensive lineman. He played in just seven games during his rookie season, totaling five tackles. With former defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli gone, there is no need to try and make Hill work in a different system after disappointing last season.

2. Dalton Schultz, TE

Dalton Schultz spent the majority of his time on special teams last season and only totaled one catch. Long-time Cowboys tight end Jason Witten left to Las Vegas, but the Cowboys signed Blake Bell, who will likely push Schultz back down the depth chart. While it's not their strongest position, Dallas doesn't need mediocre depth, which means Schultz is expendable.

3. Kai Forbath, K

Kai Forbath was signed by Dallas last season and provided the team with reliable kicking, drilling all 10 field goals and 10 extra points. Still, the Cowboys apparently did not see enough out of him, so they decided to sign the big leg of Greg Zuerlein, who has been one of the NFL's best kickers in recent seasons. It's strange that they did not release Forbath after signing Zuerlein though, so it looks like they will wait until after both kick in the preseason to release him.
