The NBA Finals favorites Brooklyn Nets open the 2021 NBA Playoffs against the Boston Celtics in Eastern Conference action on Saturday night. Brooklyn, the No. 2 seed, also enters as heavy series favorites on FanDuel SportsBook, with the series odds up to -1500.
Still, sports bettors are also attacking popular player props and other prop bets in a variety of ways,
Using props and odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, here are three player prop bets for Game 1 of the Nets vs Celtics series.
1. Kyrie Irving to Score 30+ Points (+310)
Kyrie Irving loves playing and scoring against his former team. Irving poured in 40 and 37 points in his first two games against the Celtics this year. You can play him at +110 to score 25 or more points, but let's go for a bigger option to score 30 points or more (+310). Irving eclipsed 30 points in 18 different games this season.
2. Marcus Smart Under 13.5 Points (-124)
Celtics point guard Marcus Smart is struggling to score in May, as he's managed just 8.8 points per game in five contests. He's shooting just 32.7% from the field over that stretch, and now has more than 10 days since he competed in his last full game. Smart (calf) missed the final three regular season games, and left in the second quarter (ankle) of the play-in tournament game against the Wizards. Smart is the longest tenured Celtic, and his focus will be on defense while trying to slow James Harden.
3. James Harden Under 9.5 Assists (+104)
James Harden leads the Nets in assists with 10.8 per game. But, if Marcus Smart is healthy, he'll make it tougher on Harden in Game 1. Smart is a top defender, and the heart and soul of the Celtics. Boston is so well coached by Brad Stevens, and Smart is like his name and coach on the court. Smart has held Harden to 7 assists over 98 possessions the past four years, according to Synergy Sports Technology tracking, and Harden has hit just 8-of-29 shots from the field.
