Just a few days removed from the Houston Astros' World Series championship, MLB offseason is already in fully swing. 131 players officially became free agents on Sunday before a number of other stars opted out of their contracts earlier this week.
The official free agency window opens on Thursday and baseball's rumor mill is heating up.
The New York Yankees are one team involved in these rumors. Although their priority remains with re-signing Aaron Judge after his historic season, the team has been linked to a number of other players, including Japanese star Masataka Yoshida.
MLB insider Jon Morosi reported Tuesday that the two-time Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) batting champion will be courted by the Yankees.
Masataka played seven years for the Orix Buffaloes and scouts as an A+ hitter. The outfielder owns a career slash line of .326/.419/.538 to go along with 135 home runs and 474 RBIs.
