Of all the things that make the Super Bowl a unique event, the focus on television commercials is one of the more unusual. Usually an unfortunate part of watching TV, Super Bowl commercials flip the script, becoming a fun part of the festivities, and even the main reason that some people tune in.

First Super Bowl Commercial 2020

The first commercial of the 2020 Super Bowl was for "Fast & the Furious 9," the ninth installment of the franchise. The movie stars Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson and John Cena.

Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, who handled some of the pre-game introductions for Fox, is also a key player in the franchise, though he was notably absent from the commercial.

How Much Does a Super Bowl Commercial Cost?

For Super Bowl 54, a 30-second commercial slot cost about $5.6 million, according to AdAge, which is the most in Super Bowl history.

If you had Universal Pictures, the company behind the "Fast" franchise, in Super Bowl Commercial Bingo, go ahead and check off your first square. If that was any sign of things to come, the 2020 Super Bowl commercials are going to be a fun batch.
