Josh Donaldson got off to a great start to the season for the Minnesota Twins, ripping a double in his first at-bat off Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff. But his day ended shortly after that.

Josh Donaldson Injury Update

Donaldson limped into second base with an apparent leg injury, and he did not take the field in the bottom of the first inning. Luis Arraez shifted to third base in his absence, and Jake Cave entered the game in left field.

The severity of the injury is unknown at the moment, but losing Donaldson would be a big blow to the Twins’ offense. He’s not the same MVP-caliber player he was during his prime, but he posted a strong 129 wRC+ with the Twins in 2020. He also clubbed six homers in just 102 plate appearances, and his presence propelled the Twins to one of the best offenses in baseball.

The Twins entered the season at +1800 on FanDuel Sportsbook to win the World Series, which is the third-best mark in the American League.
