There isn't much positivity surrounding the Minnesota Twins lately as they have yet to find their groove this season and currently sit 17 games under .500. However, fans will be glad to hear that outfielder Byron Buxton continues to progress from his injury and could make his return soon.

Byron Buxton Injury Update

Buxton took batting practice before the team's game on Monday night and even shagged some fly balls in the outfield. The seven-year pro is working his way back from a fractured hand injury that has caused him to be out since late June. His return seems to be inching closer and closer.

Buxton will likely need a rehab assignment before joining the major league squad, but it could be a quick one given he feels healthy and ready to contribute.

The Gold Glove winner was dominating this season before going down posting an impressive slash line of .369/.409/.767 through 27 games played. In fact, Buxton has racked up 21 runs scored, 10 home runs, 19 RBIs and 5 stolen bases despite only having 110 plate appearances in 2021.

The Twins are in desperate need of a spark on this team and the play of Buxton certainly fits the bill. However, it seems to be too late as Minnesota sits 19.0 games back of the first-place Chicago White Sox in the American League Central division.
