It's great to see that starting pitcher Trevor Williams was in good spirits following his latest injury news. The Chicago Cub sent out a hilarious tweet about his appendix after he was placed on the 10-day injured list due to appendicitis. Williams underwent an appendectomy on Sunday.

Trevor Williams Injury

Williams had been going through an up-and-down stretch with the Cubs prior to his injury posting a 5.36 ERA through 10 starts (43.2 innings pitched). The 29-year-old hurler has also racked up 49 strikeouts on the season and has a 3-2 record overall. This injury comes at the worst time for the Cubs, though.

The Cubs have a slew of players out injured right now and Williams is just the latest one to join them. Jason Heyward, Jake Marisnick, Nico Hoerner, Matt Duffy, Alec Mills, David Bote and Justin Steele have all gone on the IL since May 10. There is no timetable set for Williams' return quite yet, but he does have a follow-up appointment on Thursday.

However, the countless injuries haven't seemed to slow the Cubs down at all. They have won 13 of their last 17 games and sit all by themselves atop the NL Central with a record of 30-23. The Cubs currently have odds set at +440 to win the NL Central and odds set at +4500 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
