Top Prospect Joins Royals in September Call Ups
By Larry Rupp

Every MLB team is allowed to add two players to the team on Thursday as rosters expand for the rest of the season. The Kansas City Royals are taking advantage of the opportunity and bringing back a top outfield prospect. Nate Eaton has been called up from Triple-A.
RHP Daniel Mengden and OF Nate Eaton will be the #Royals September callups. Each team gets two extra players, one pitcher and one position player.

This will actually be Eaton's third stint in the majors this season. Across 19 games played, the 25-year-old is slashing .182/.255/.318 with five runs scored, one double, one home run, three RBI and two stolen bases. His ability to play all three outfield spots gives Kansas City some solid versatility.
Eaton has really put it all together with the Omaha Storm Chasers this summer. The former 21st-round pick slashed .295/.376/.510 and smacked nine home runs in 54 games played. While his speed was on full display (11 stolen bases), Eaton proved he still needs to work through a strikeout issue.
As the organization's No. 16 prospect, Eaton is widely considered a candidate to be a full-time MLB player in 2023. He's definitely going to have some competition, though. MJ Melendez, Michael A. Taylor, Drew Waters, Brent Rooker and Hunter Dozier will all still be around as OF options for KC.
Right-hander Daniel Mengden was the other September call up for the Royals and he is set to start Thursday's game against the Chicago White Sox. Meanwhile, Eaton will be on the bench. Kansas City has odds set at +160 on the moneyline in that matchup, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
