Terry McLaurin is a special talent. The standout wide receiver was named a team captain of the Washington Football Team earlier this season, and it's not hard to see why. He's currently on a 16-game pace to record just under 1,400 yards on about 99 catches in just his second season.

But the rate he's producing isn't just great, it's actually historic. In fact, McLaurin has racked up the 12th-most receiving yards of all time through a wide receiver's first 24 games played, putting him ahead of even the great Jerry Rice.

It's close, but McLaurin's 1,790 yards through his first 24 games beat Rice's 1,757 and Andre Johnson's 1,669. He's also pacing some other legendary names by a significant margin. Hall-of-Fame locks like Calvin Johnson (1,530), Larry Fitzgerald (1,493) and Terrell Owens (1,007) can't even hold a candle to what McLaurin is doing.

The all-time record holder is Odell Beckham Jr., who racked up 2,459 yards through his first 24 games.

Of course, there's the obvious caveat we have to mention about adjusting for the modern NFL, as we're in the golden era of passing.

But McLaurin deserves credit for racking up those numbers while catching passes from the likes of Kyle Allen, Dwayne Haskins, Case Keenum, Colt McCoy and now a clearly-diminished version of Alex Smith.

With the Washington Football Team still searching for a new name, perhaps they should consider naming the franchise after McLaurin. Because with the way his career is trending, his name is going to be all over the team's record books anyway.
