New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is still working his way back from the torn ACL he suffered in Week 2 of the 2020 campaign. Barkley will start training camp on the Giants' PUP list, signaling that he's not near 100% yet.

Barkley's current injury status clouds his early-season fantasy outlook.

Expectations are high for Barkley ahead of his comeback year. His sizable role in the Giants' offense has him positioned as RB5 in current fantasy drafts, according to FantasyPro's Average Draft Position (ADP) data.

Barkley broke out as a rookie in 2018, leading the league with 2,028 yards from scrimmage and ranking as RB1 in PPR formats. He followed that up as the RB10 in PPR scoring in 2019 while racking up 1,441 yards from scrimmage.

Barkley's injury status should be closely monitored as camp gets underway. All signs indicate he'll be ready by Week 1, but he may be eased into his normal workhorse role. Giants RBs Devontae Booker and Corey Clement could become valuable handcuffs if any setbacks pop up for Barkley ahead of the regular season.
