New Orleans Saints star Drew Brees has been out since Week 10 with broken ribs and a collapsed lung, opening the door for fourth-year QB Taysom Hill to take over as the team's starter. Hill has served as starter in each of the team's last three games, which have all been wins.
It appears that Hill will get the starting nod from head coach Sean Payton once again in Week 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Hill has made it known to Payton and the Saints that he wants to be a starter in the future. His successful run under center so far looks like it's making the right impression that he can take over the team when Brees leaves.
Hill is averaging 18 completions for 181 yards in his three games as starter. He has added an additional 58.7 rushing yards per game, showcasing his dual-threat potential. The QB has also totaled 6 touchdowns (two passing and four rushing) in the past three weeks.
So far, Hill hasn't given Payton and the Saints any reason to bench him for Jameis Winston. It looks like Hill will continue to hold down the fort until Brees makes his return, which is approaching soon.
