When MLB teams bring up their top prospects, they tend to treat these prospects with extreme care. That's especially true for MLB teams not expected to make a serious push towards the postseason and exactly how the Kansas City Royals are handling their former top pitching prospect, Brady Singer.

Singer experienced some shoulder tightness in his last start this past week. As a result, he was limited to a pitch count and threw just 3.0 innings. Fortunately for Kansas City, the shoulder soreness seems to be resolved and he's on track to make his next start this upcoming Tuesday, according to manager Mike Matheny.

Brady Singer Injury

Singer may be limited to another pitch count for his next start, but it's a great sign to see him penciled back into the normal rotation. Singer, the 24-year-old former No. 1 prospect, has started 14 games this season with a 4.76 ERA. He's still got some development left to do, but definitely prospects as a talented, young arm.

The Royals sit in third place in the AL Central standings with a 31-38 overall record. FanDuel Sportsbook has Kansas City with the third-best odds to win the division (+1800), according to the latest MLB odds. With this team not expected to make a serious postseason push, there's no reason not to handle a top prospect like Singer with extreme caution.
