The Washington Football Team wasted no time in the offseason finding a new partner in crime for wide receiver Terry McLaurin. The front office made a move to sign veteran Curtis Samuel and it looks like he could finally join practice next week. Samuel is working his way back from a couple of recent injuries.

Curtis Samuel Injury Update

Samuel has spent time over the last few weeks on the COVID-19 list as well as the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list due to a groin injury. His status remained up in the air for quite some, but it looks like optimism is growing that the 25-year-old playmaker will be able to suit up in Week 1.

Washington showed a fair level of commitment by signing Samuel to a three-year deal worth $34.5 million. He is expected to take on a versatile role in this offense. The fifth-year pro racked up a career-high 1,051 yards from scrimmage last season to go along with a total of 5 touchdowns scored.

It remains a concern that Samuel will not be able to go through a lot of reps with the first-team offense before kickoff on September 12. Washington is hoping that Samuel and new starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick can elevate an offense that put up just 320.6 yards per game in 2020 (No. 29 in NFL).

It's worth keeping an eye on Samuel's recovery and how fast he is able to adjust to playing on a new team. For now, Washington has odds set at +260 to win the NFC East division and odds set at +5000 to win the Super Bowl, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
