The Cincinnati Reds currently own a 38-38 record as the month of June comes to a close. They're still in the thick of the NL Central race despite a rash of injuries recently, and help is on the way.

Ace Sonny Gray is progressing in his injury recovery and is set to start on Friday against the Chicago Cubs.

Sonny Gray Injury Update

This is great news for Cincinnati after some minor hiccups during his rehab. Gray initially went on the 10-day injured list with groin tightness that popped up during his last start on June 8. He's been out of the rotation since, so he'll be greeted with a warm welcome in his return.

Gray sports a measley 1-4 record this year but he also owns a 3.42 ERA, so the blame doesn't fall solely on him. He's racked up 65 strikeouts across 50.0 innings so far in 2021 as well.

Getting the two-time All-Star's arm back in the rotation will be a huge boost for the Reds as they look to turn things around. A late-season run isn't out of the question for Cincinnati, who own the third-best odds to win the NL Central at +750.
