If it isn't clear by now, everyone needs to stop sleeping on the Tampa Bay Rays. They have now won 12 of their last 13 games overall and sit atop what is a very tough AL East division with a record of 31-20. The Rays' recent success has caused them to jump in ESPN's latest MLB power rankings.

Tampa Bay comes in at the No. 3 spot, which is a major climb up from the No. 10 spot they found themselves ranked at last week. The Rays are the top-ranked team in the American League and passed other powerhouses including the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox.

Rays ESPN Power Rankings

Although the Rays have thrived off of their pitching staff in the last few seasons, it is their offense that is currently carrying the load. Tampa Bay ranks among the top 10 teams in the MLB in runs scored per game (4.94), hits per game (7.92), home runs per game (1.22) and stolen bases per game (0.55).

Don't get it twisted, the Rays' pitching staff is still dominant as well. Early season Cy Young candidate Tyler Glasnow leads a starting rotation that has helped the team post an ERA of 3.54 so far this year (No. 8 in MLB). Glasnow has a 4-2 record on the year to go along with a 2.90 ERA and a total of 87 strikeouts in 62.0 innings pitched.

Tampa Bay is a team to watch out for and have the pieces to be true World Series contenders once again. The Rays are currently tied for the 10th-best odds to win it all at +2200, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
