As important as it is to find the top fantasy football waiver pickups for Week 13, adding those players comes at a cost. In order to make those additions, you'll also need to find players on your team to drop.

It's not always as simple as dropping the players who put up the lowest fantasy scores last week either, as a deeper look at workload and matchups could reveal them to be bounce-back candidates moving forward.

With that in mind, let's look at three players, owned in at least 50 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues, that should prove safe to drop this week in order to make room for waiver wire pickups.

1. Royce Freeman, RB, Denver Broncos (67% Owned)

Following comments that Phillip Lindsay would serve as more of a feature back down the stretch for the Denver Broncos, Royce Freeman's fantasy value has completely fallen off. He had averaged 10.3 carries and 3.8 targets per game heading into the Broncos' Week 10 bye, but since then he has just 10 carries and three targets in two games combined. That includes a Week 11 contest in which he played a season-low 29 percent of the team's offensive snaps, and with a significant drop in volume he doesn't stand to offer much fantasy value any time soon.

2. Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers (83% Owned)

Checking in at QB18 with an average of 15.9 fantasy points per game, Jimmy Garoppolo isn't anything more than a streaming option, needing a favorable matchup to offer any value as a starter. In Week 13 Garoppolo is up against a Baltimore Ravens defense that has allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing QBs, and while his matchup does get a bit easier in Week 14 (against the New Orleans Saints), he'll still be little more than a fringe option in that one, meaning he's not worth locking up a roster spot for when you'll likely have options just as good (and likely better) available on the waiver wire next week as well.

3. Duke Johnson, RB, Houston Texans (55% Owned)

Like the Broncos, the Houston Texans' RB usage has looked different since their Week 10 bye than it did early in the year. Duke Johnson hasn't offered much fantasy value even in PPR formats this year, but that's been especially true recently, with just 11 carries and three targets across his last two games, averaging just 5.2 PPR points per game. Even if we extend our view to the entire season, his 9.3 points per game check in at 45th among RBs, and this recent drop is likely the final nail in the coffin for his fantasy outlook.
