Packers Get Bad News With Aaron Jones Injury Update

Today's Thursday Night Football matchup between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers is going to be a strange one, with both teams dealing with serious losses to the COVID/Reserve list.
It's not just COVID threatening to limit players, however. Packers RB Aaron Jones is nursing an ankle injury, and the latest update on his status wasn't good.
From @gmfb: Almost two weeks removed from being a game-time decision, #Packers RB Aaron Jones is still questionable and I'm not hearing pessimism about his status for tonight vs. the #49ers. pic.twitter.com/3wxBTgfouB

NFL insider Mike Garafolo says that he is "skeptical" about Jones' status on Thursday, That makes sense, considering the strange way the Packers have handled his injury so far. In Week 7, Jones was a game-time decision, then his status seemed to get worse despite the fact that he wasn't playing or practicing on the ankle.
If Jones does play, expect it to be in a limited capacity.
Sounds like it’s still possible Aaron Jones could suit up tonight for #Packers in San Francisco, but unlikely he’s 100 percent. And you know Packers won’t push him if he isn’t. Expect plenty of Tyler Ervin and Dexter Williams against the 49ers.

That will make the Green Bay backfield especially interesting since Jamaal Williams and A.J. Dillon have already been ruled out. That means Tyler Ervin, who has essentially served as a wide receiver, and Dexter Williams, who has five NFL Carries, will be leaned on.
Of course, the 49ers are dealing with even more absences. FanDuel Sportsbook's Week 9 odds have Green Bay as a 7-point road favorite here.
