Oklahoma Sooners Playoff Odds
Like most seasons, the Sooners were an absolute powerhouse last year. They scored an average of 42.5 points per game, which ranked sixth-best in the NCAA. Considering how they were allowing just 23.9 points per game (34th), it shouldn't be shocking that their season was as successful as it was.
Like most of the top teams in college football, Oklahoma did lose some key players to the 2021 NFL Draft, including running back Rhamondre Stevenson and Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year Creed Humphrey. Fortunately, the Sooners were able to recruit several five- and four-star athletes to fill the void created by the offseason departures. The school has a proven track record when it comes to consistently developing talent, so don't be surprised if some of its new players contribute immediately.
All eyes will be on quarterback Spencer Rattler when it comes to Oklahoma's playoff aspirations. The 2021 Heisman Trophy favorite is coming off of an impressive freshman campaign that saw him record 3,031 passing yards for 28 touchdowns to 7 interceptions. He was also involved in the ground game, rushing 81 times for 160 yards and 6 touchdowns. With the pressure on his shoulders, Oklahoma will live or die by Rattler this season.
The Sooners also have +800 odds to win this year's national championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, which ranks fifth-best across all of NCAA football.
