NBA DFS 1/28/2022
Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Friday, 1/28, NBA DFS action.
FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA - 1/28
Ja Morant Fantasy
Target Ja Morant, PG, Memphis Grizzlies ($10,400): Ja Morant comes into Friday's game on a tear. Morant is averaging a ridiculous 36.8 points, 8.5 assists and 8.0 rebounds over the last four contests. His mark of 59.1 FanDuel fantasy points per game during this stretch showcases the superstar-level of production he's capable of. Morant is in a great position to keep things up tonight facing a shorthanded Utah Jazz team. This normally strong defense is down its anchor in Rudy Gobert, which should make Morant's life easier as a scorer and distributor.
LaMelo Ball Fantasy
Target LaMelo Ball, PG, Charlotte Hornets ($8,600): LaMelo Ball could be at the center of a track meet tonight. The Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets rank in the top five for most PPG allowed, and both teams are in the top three for pace. That means there'll be plenty of buckets and possessions in this one, which is a delicious game script for an all-around threat like Ball. The young guard is coming off of a triple-double in his last outing, his second in five games and fourth of the year overall. Ball has the potential to be in the ballpark of the 62.5 fantasy points he put up the last time he was on the court.
Luke Kennard Fantasy
Target Luke Kennard, SG/SF, Los Angeles Clippers ($4,700): Luke Kennard is in the middle of solid stretch for the Los Angeles Clippers. He's averaging 18.7 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 3.3 APG over his last three games while posting a scorching 76.9% true shooting percentage. Though his playing time has been inconsistent this year, Paul George's absence has opened up an opportunity on the wing, and Kennard's seen at least 28 minutes in each of the past three contests. He draws a usually tough matchup in the Miami Heat, but they're down several players, including Kyle Lowry. Jimmy Butler is also questionable for this game, which would severely downgrade the Heat's perimeter defense.
Julius Randle Fantasy
Avoid Julius Randle, PF/C, New York Knicks ($8,600): We recommended Julius Randle as an avoid candidate last time out, and hopefully you listened. He was a bust on Wednesday, managing a meager statline of 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Randle finished with just 20.2 fantasy points, thanks to 4 turnovers cutting into his fantasy total. That continues a concerning recent trend: Randle has committed a whopping 18 TOs in just the past four games alone. His scoring (14.3 PPG) and rebounding (7.3 RPG) hasn't been enough to make up for this turnover-prone stretch, so there's no reason to view him as a legitimate play.
Russell Westbrook Fantasy
Avoid Russell Westbrook, PG, Los Angeles Lakers ($7,800): Speaking of underperforming players who are turnover-prone, Russell Westbrook's lackluster season continues. Westbrook has failed to crack even 30 fantasy points in back-to-back contests. The former triple-double threat now seemingly has success in one area on a nightly basis while leaving much to be desired in the others. That's been the case during this stretch, with his rebounding (5.0 RPG) and distributing (3.5) falling flat while he finds success as a scorer (17.5 PPG). He's also committed a combined 11 turnovers in his two outings, so there's not a ton of appeal here.
