It looks like Michael Thomas is on track to miss his second consecutive week. He was sidelined yet again on Thursday due to a high ankle sprain suffered at the end of Week 1. If Thomas is out again, Tre'Quan Smith becomes a really interesting target for fantasy football purposes.

Tre'Quan Smith Fantasy Football Outlook

Smith really shined in relief of Thomas in Week 2. The 24-year-old turned 7 targets into 5 catches for 86 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders. If Thomas is sidelined its fair to expect Smith to see somewhere around 7 targets again in Week 3.

That would make him an interesting target against a Green Bay Packers' defense that's surrendering 2.0 passing touchdowns per game. He'd be on the WR3 radar if Thomas sits in Week 3.

Emmanuel Sanders Fantasy Football Outlook

Emmanuel Sanders would also theoretically get a boost in value if Thomas sits, though he hasn't been particularly effective since joining the Saints. He has averaged just 4.0 targets per game in New Orleans, which translates to just 2.0 catches for 32.5 yards per contest.

He has scored 1 touchdown, but it's unlikely for that to continue if he continues seeing such little volume. The fact that he only saw 3 targets without Thomas in Week 3 is certainly not encouraging.
